NOTICE: Effective January 1, 2005 BASNY will operate under the auspices of the  Institute for History, Archaeology and Education (IHARE). Please check that cite for further information. (It may take a few weeks before the IHARE cite is updated to include BASNY materials.)

The new lecture program is expected to begin in March 2005. Meetings will be held at either Union Theological Seminary or Jewish Theological Seminary.

The Biblical Archaeology Society of New York, based in New York City, is a non-sectarian educational group that presents a number of lectures each year on aspects of ancient Near Eastern archaeology, history and literature. Gary Greenberg serves as the current President of the organization. Peter Feinman is the new Executive Director. The members are mostly non-professionals who have a strong interest in these fields of study. Many of the speakers at BASNY are scholars from the New York City area. Past lecturers have included Lawrence Schiffman, Mark Smith, Louis Feldman, Cyrus Gordon, James Allen, David O'Connor, Ogden Goelet, Robert Stieglitz, and Murray Lichtenstein.
