About the Editor

The American Wasteland is written and edited by Gary Greenberg, a Senior Trial Attorney with the Criminal Defense Division of the Legal Aid Society in New York City. He is also the author of several books and articles on a wide range of subjects, including The Moses Mystery: the African Origins of the Jewish People. Mr. Greenberg is available for media and public appearances, and can be reached through his e-mail contact.

Greenberg PhotoMr. Greenberg helped organize the Libertarian Party in its formative stages (1971-72) and is a co-founder of the New York chapter (1972.) He ran for Governor of New York on the Libertarian Party ticket in 1978, and managed several political campaigns.

He has a special interest in Biblical and Egyptian myth and history and serves as President of the Biblical Archaeology Society of New York. His writings have appeared in several scholarly publications devoted to those subjects and he has presented academic papers at several international conferences of Biblical and Egyptian scholars.

In addition to such scholarly endeavors, his writings have also appeared in the New York Law Journal, The Champion, Creative Computing, Personal Computing, The Abolitionist, Libertarian Forum, and Outlook Magazine. He is the former editor-in-chief of Outlook Magazine, a journal of political commentary, and has appeared on numerous radio and television talk, interview and news programs, including Barry Farber, Mort Downey, Bernie McCain, Cliff Kelly, and Powerpoint. He has also served as a guest commentator on Court TV.

His book, The Moses Mystery (Birch Lane 1997) has been reprinted in several editions, domestic and foreign. His new book, 101 Myths of the Bible: How Ancient Scribes Invented Biblical History, should be released in the latter part of 2000.
