The Biblical Archaeology Society, based in New York City, is a non-sectarian educational group that presents about ten lectures a year on aspects of ancient Near Eastern archaeology, history and literature. The members are mostly non-professionals who have a strong interest in these fields of study. Many of the speakers at BASNY are scholars from the New York City area. Meetings consist of an optional dinner followed by the evening’s lecture. BASNY is not affiliated with Biblical Archaeology Review or any other organization.

Past lecturers have included Lawrence Schiffman, Cyrus Gordon, James Allen, David O’Connor, Ogden Goelet, Robert Stieglitz, and Murray Lichtenstein. Gary Greenberg serves as the current President of the organization.

Details on membership, meeting times, cost, and location are presented below. For more information you can write to BASNY at the address below or e-mail Gary Greenberg through the contact link on this site.
